Before getting into the brief history of acting, let's first try to understand what acting is. Well, it's simple! Acting is nothing but telling a story by portraying a character. Basically, all actors are storytellers.
Most people think that acting is a cake-walk activity and a useless profession. But, the reality is different. When you act, you got to completely let go of yourself and live as someone else; you got to eliminate your persona from your mind and fill it with the life and living of the character you are going to portray, which is an extremely tedious and challenging task. It is like, for sometime, you have to be someone whom you have never been all your life!
Well, now to the brief history.
The art of acting first originated in Greece in the 6th century BC when the Greek actor Thespis stepped out of the chorus that was singing and dancing in honour of Dionysus, the god of wine and fertility. Thespis began to talk and act like Dionysus himself, and that moment was when the magical art of acting was born. From then on, acting has evolved in various ways and continues to vary to this day.
Before I end my maiden and short post, I would like to let you know what is the purpose behind me creating this blog.
